New activities launch in Fermanagh Lakelands

With 2022 deemed the year travellers will finally get to fulfil their long-overdue trips, experts have already cited some of the big trends that will be influencing booking decisions and among them are Adventure, Family-focus and supporting local.

Fermanagh Lakelands has released a tranche of new attractions which tap into these trends, making it the go-to destination on the island of Ireland, for families, action junkies and local lovers alike.

For the action junkies, take cycling off road and onto water with ‘Hydrobikes with Lights’ with Erne Adventures. Hydrobikes are a novel water sports experience that will allow visitors to see Enniskillen from a completely different vantage point. Stay on the water with Blue Green Yonder offering new activities such as Island Yoga and Kayak Paddling.

For families, the Marble Arch Caves set in the picturesque foothills of Cuilcagh Mountain are now open all year round for guided tours, for the first time in their history since its opening in 1985. An underworld labyrinth, to trace the journey of the Owenbrean River, discovering its energy as the waters gurgle and splash as you venture deep into the black abyss is an experience not to be missed.

For provenance seekers, Enniskillen Taste Experience and Erne Water Taxi have joined forces to offer the ‘Lakelander Food Experience’. In this unique offering, food lovers will be transported along the lough shores, diving deep into Lakelands’ history, all whilst sampling the most divine food and drink tasting menu, sourced and produced right in the heart of the Fermanagh Lakelands.

Stay: Keenaghan Cottage is an idyllic thatched self-catering cottage nestled in the heart of the countryside, escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life, offering a tranquil, luxurious and traditional Irish setting. Prices from £180 per night (€215)

The newly launched Woodland Lodges, based in Killyhevlin Lake Hotel, complete with private hot tubs. Prices are for 3 night midweek stay from £190 per night or 2 night midweek stay from £212.50 per night. (Euro prices are whatever the conversion rate is on the day of print)
