Since 2016, MCE has assisted Castlebrooke Investments in their plans to secure planning permission on a 12-acre area of prime brownfield land in the centre of Belfast city centre.

Project Summary

MCE work with Castlebrooke Investments to support their redevelopment of a 12-acre area, known as ‘Tribeca Belfast’. Securing planning permission represents an overall investment of approximately £500m. Central to this engagement has been briefing community organisations, local businesses, and other stakeholders.

The Challenge

Castlebrooke required public affairs and media assistance in Belfast, to ensure that stakeholders were fully briefed on the redevelopment of their site allowing for issues/concerns to be addressed.

Our Solution

MCE have been involved in an extensive programme of stakeholder engagement with elected representatives, community organisations and local businesses, since 2016. This programme of engagement was aligned with a media strategy.

The Results

The stakeholder engagement by MCE has been central to the gathering of support for the redevelopment, with the outline planning permission granted in January 2020.

  • Permission granted for 24 apartments and 33,000 sq ft of office space, March 2017
  • Permission granted for 150,000 sq ft office building with ground floor retail units, March 2018
  • Outline Masterplan approval granted, January 2020
